When do we open?

The first weekend in May till end of October.   We are open all day only on Fridays and Saturdays for Events.  We can do luncheons and business meetings during the week. 

How many guests can be accommodated?

We have a maximum capacity of 240 guests.

When can I come in for a tour?

Tours are by appointment.  Contact Us to schedule your tour day and tie.

How big is the red barn?

The red barn is approximately 4700 square feet.  The main level still has the original wood floors and barn doors. Our second level loft has exposed wood trusses and hand-milled pine walls.

Is there running water and electricity?

Yes, we have running water and awesome bathrooms. We have plenty of outlets throughout the barn. 

Do you have ample onsite parking?

Yes!  We have a large lighted parking lot with ample parking for your guests.  Handicap guests have available parking next to the barn for easy access.  You will be provided with a parking lot attendant whom will help direct traffic into the farm and parking lot.  This will ensure all vehicles are parked efficiently and allow for all guests have to have a spot.

Are any hotel/shuttle accommodations nearby?

Yes!  We work with a number of nearby hotels offering discounted rates.  Hotel shuttles are also available making your wedding safe and trouble-free for all guests.

What should I wear as a guest to an event?

Attire should be chosen based on the formality of the invitation you received. Some events are more casual than others. Also, as most ceremonies and/or social hours are held outdoors, be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.  The most important factor is SHOES! We would highly recommend not wearing spike heels. Wedges, flats, boots, etc. work better on the multiple surfaces at the property.  The outdoor spaces are grass, gravel and pavers, while inside the barn is the original wood plank floor.

Do you provide tables and chairs?

We provide tables and chairs for up to 240 guests.   Reception seating is Natural Wooden Kestell Chairs with an ivory seat cushion. Ceremony seating is white deluxe folding chairs.

Do we have to set up the tables and chairs?

No!  Our set-up crew will arrange the tables and chairs per a customized layout that we create for you.  We also take them down.  This is includes your ceremony too.

I have elderly family. How can they get around?

Ride in comfort!  We have a very nice golf cart that can be used all day to chauffeur any of your guests who are elderly or disabled.  Driver's hat and white gloves are optional!

Is there someone onsite during the day?

Yes, someone is onsite during your event.  Our staff or a security guard will be present to assist with venue related questions about the grounds or policies. We recommend if you do not have a wedding planner to take our Day of Coordinator to run your day. Please inquire for more information. 

Do you have a wedding coordinator?

Yes. The wedding coordinator is your advocate for this special day.  She will handle every need for the day from 9am-11pm.  Please inquire about pricing.

Are the string lights always up in the ceiling of the barn?

Yes! and the curtains in the big barn doors are there too.

What hours is the property available on the event day?

The rented buildings and surrounding grounds are available from 9am-11pm for our Friday and Saturday events.  Setup time can start as early as 9am and takedown must be complete by 11:30pm.  Guests may arrive as early as 1pm and fully vacate by 11pm.

Can vehicles be left overnight?

Permitting requires that all vehicles must be removed from the property by the end of the event.

Can we leave items overnight?

Our policy is that everything must be removed from the barn, brides room, ceremony area and anywhere else on the farm by the end of the night so we may clean, however sometimes that can be difficult. We can store your items in our lower barn till Sunday for you to come back and retrieve anytime between the hours of 10:00 - 2:00 pm. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Do you have indoor restrooms?

Yes!  We have beautiful new indoor restrooms for both men and women.  These are located next to the bar, just below the loft.

Is there climate control?

Yes.  We have both heat and air conditioning.

Is there a place for the bride and groom to get ready?

Yes!  The old milk room has been transformed into a bridal room that is split into two sections.  One section is a private area where the bride can change and get ready.  The other is a place where the bride and her friends can hang out and relax before the ceremony.

Additionally, we have two brand new rooms for both wedding parties.  The bridal room is stunning with all of the white furniture and floor-to-ceiling picture frame mirror.

The groomsman won't be disappointed as their room has a massage chair and leather sectional for maximum relaxation.

Where can our ceremony be held?

There are two gorgeous areas to pick from on the farm for your ceremony. You can be married on the Hill or inside the barn.

Is there an outdoor sound system?

Our preferred DJ's can provide a portable sound system on the hill so that your guests can enjoy hearing your exchange of vows and any music you may have. Electricity is available for their equipment.

How can I decorate?

One of our brides' favorite amenities at Dellwood Barn is that we offer decoration rentals.  If you are interested in seeing what we offer we will provide you with a rental catalog.

What are the added costs after the rental fees are paid?

You are responsible to book and pay for your vendors to service and decorate your event. Day of rental includes tables and chairs for up to 253 guests, chairs for ceremony, security, clean up crew, firewood unlimited, dessert table, gift table, light strands in the ceiling, curtains in the big barn doors, picture frames behind the head table, lighted boxes on each side of the head table, DJ table, brides & grooms room.  We require each event to acquire event insurance. (check for rates). There is a $400 damage deposit which will be returned unless there is excessive clean up or damage. You also have the option to rent any additional decorations,games from our extensive rental room.

Do you allow bakery goods?

All bakery goods including cakes, deserts, cookies, and others must be from a licensed bakery/facility.  No homemade items will be allowed in accordance with the State of Minnesota Health Department.

What are my vendor options?

We have a list of preferred vendors on our website.  DBW does have a preferred catering list because we do not have a kitchen or water service for prepping food.  Our vendors are not exclusive, but they are familiar with the environment on our property.

If you choose to explore a caterer whom is not on the preferred list there is a $750.00 charge or 12% (whatever is greater) to cover the above and the approval process to work at the farm to ensure they are capable of operating with the environmental demands of our property, have proper insurance and willing to sign our contractFor this reason we highly suggest choosing one of our preferred vendors.

What is your food/beverage minimum?
Dellwood Barn Weddings does not have a food/beverage minimum.  You work directly with our preferred caterer.  There is a 12% surcharge assessed to the caterer that they will pay directly to DBW's.  It is the caterer's responsibility pay this charge and it will be incorporated into your bill from the caterer you choose.

Who will serve alcohol?

All alcohol service for your event will be served only by DBW whom has the liquor license.  Please inquire about liquor packages. They will meet everyone's need's for your special day.

How long can we have music playing?

Music provided by the DJ is permitted on the hill during the ceremony as well as inside the barn.  Music ends at 10:30 pm.

Do we need to carry insurance?

All clients must carry insurance to cover their event. Check with your homeowners/renters insurance to see if it can cover an event of this type.  It is called 'Special Event Policy' (check for rates) Please Contact Us for additional information on this topic.

Can guests smoke on the property?

Our farm is smoke-free for the safety of our buildings.  We do have a designated smoking area down at our Fire Pit.  This is the only permitted area for people to smoke.

Is there security on the property?

All events will require an off-duty uniformed police offer from the hours of 7:15-11:15 pm.  This security officer will be provided by DBW.

What happens if it rains?

The wedding will carry on, rain or shine. Ceremony chairs will be set up on the hill overlooking the farm. In the event of rain do not fret because we have a backup plan!  The bride may wait out the rain in the red barn with guests, or can choose to have the wedding inside the red barn.

Can I do a photo shoot?

Brides your engagement pictures are included in your venue fee. We welcome photographers and families  for a photo shoot at our property.  We charge $45 per two-hour session.  Contact Us to schedule your session.

Does the barn have events during the week?

We are available for weekday rentals on Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Are animals allowed at the barn for weddings?
We welcome dogs to the barn if you are thinking you would like to incorporate them in your engagement photos.  Due to state health codes your animals are not allowed on the day of the wedding.
What do we have to do at the end of the night before we leave?
If you rented any DBW Rentals please collect and bring to the gift table to be checked in before leaving. Please assign a guest to stay until all rentals are accounted for. All personal belongings, decor, and outside rental items must be packed up and removed from the property. Tables, chairs and other furniture items can be left in place.
*If necessary, arrangements can be made for large items that can't be taken that night. They need to be placed in lower barn and picked up between 10:00 - 2:00pm on Sunday.
What is your cake-cutting fee?

We do not charge a cake-cutting fee.

Do you have a secure room for my belongings and gifts?

No, we do not.  Please use your car for any valuables.  We suggest right after dinner to pull your car up to the front of the barn and load up your gifts and cards.

Do you have any locations nearby for taking photographs?

In addition to our historic farm, you could go to White Bear Lake or Down Town Stillwater to the river area. You can also call the Stillwater Trolley company to pick you up and return you for a awesome ride to.  We feel there is plenty of places on our farm.
